Organizational Background
Kyun Ta Htaung Myae Foundation (Thousand Islands) was established in 2010 by an active, now former member of parliament to implement programs relating to Justice and peace, legal support and advice to farmers & communities on land disputes, resettlement and rehabilitation of conflict affected communities, human resource and capacity building on parliamentary process and organizational management, networking and coordination with CSO’s, NGO’s, Local Government and EAOs.
The main objectives of organization are encouraging youth leaders to become skillful youth generation, to actively participate in peace process and political development, to promote socioeconomic and knowledge of ordinary people and to expand network & coordinate among local civil society organizations. The focus area is not a peaceful area; central of Shan State (LoiLem district and Linkay Districts); currently government identifies as brown area and outsiders have difficulties to access this area and only on local organizations. Kyun Ta Htaung Myae Foundation’s director has experienced in bureaucratic relationship as carrying out duties of Member of Parliament. Therefore, KTHM has strong networks in government officials, legislators and CSOs and experienced for engaging with different stakeholders such government organizations, ethnic armed organizations, civil society organizations, communities and providing capacity and awareness to youth generation and farmers.

Kyun Ta Htaung Myae(KTHM) got a joint-grant with SaNaR in 2018 which intended to strengthen famer’s organization and network to create a space for the participation in the policy dialogue. KTHM organized township level “Public Dialogue” between governmental departments, parliamentary and farmers representative will present their problems and difficulties with the relative departments and parliamentary members in a constructively ways on Dec,2018. KTHM lead the “Thanlwin River Basin Environmental Conservation Photo Exhibition” in Taunggyi on Nov,2018. This is one of the biggest events in Shan State relative with Thanlwin River issues and successfully organized.
